On February 14th 2020 the “Atelier Heritage” design studio year 2019-2020 at IUAV University of Venice has come to an end with the final exam!

The Workshop “Padua: a Park of Walls and Waters, Beyond the Walls” focused on one of the areas belonging to the project “Parco delle Mura e delle Acque”, by aiming to valorize it and uncovering its potential. The project area (PP1) is located on the axis between the Train Station, Piazzale Boschetti, the Giardini dell’Arena (and therefore the entire historic center) and it embodies a real urban link between the train station, the historic center and the university and hospital clusters.The current topic has allowed us to measure the project ability to bring back to life the gray areas that often remain abandoned for long time by imagining a transformation planned with the utmost attention and sensitivity to the historical and natural context of the Wall and the river.
Each group has developed a proposal of masterplan and multifunctional building – MUB (Multifunctional University Building), a high architectural quality piece capable of interpreting the proximity of the Walls and the Bastion, becoming at the same time a reference point for the academic city by linking the everyday lives of students, researchers and professors to citizens, companies and activities within the city.
