FUTURE CITY VISIONS

In the 21st century, as the majority of people on earth will be living in cities, our life is bound to become increasingly urban; therefore, how cities are organized and the urbanization processes are managed is going to reflect enormously on the lives of individuals and societies and, as a consequence, on the very survival of the planet. The need to address the rising population and its changing needs in the european – and generally the worldwide – urban context should takle the underuse of the new, old and historical buildings heritage through regeneration, replacement, densification and complexification of the urban environment: a huge occasion both for the city and the society.

Sustainable Smart Future Cities

We aim to design smart sustainable city, an innovative city that uses a wide range of means to improve quality of life, efficiency of urban operation and services, and competitiveness (for example by reducing commuting), while ensuring that it meets the needs of present and future generations with respect to economic, social and environmental aspects.

Abu Dhabi Urban Oasis: a Compact City

More  than ever  the rapidly growing world population requires a strategy for the expansion of the city, which  tend to spred outward claiming other land  ehhancing the footprint. Our design aim to create denser cities minimizing the overall city footprint for example by reducing traffic, creating an efficient public transport city, promoting social and housing prices equity, while matching the need of life quality and minimizing new cementification of the natural environment.

Abu Dhabi Urban Oasis: a Smart Transport Network

Increased density leads to reduced emissions through shorter and more efficient travel routes and opportunities to provide good and efficient public transport networ, which thus promotes sustainable development.

Abu Dhabi Urban Oasis: a Sustainable Bioclimatic City

We know the natural environment can contribute to mitigate important challanges worsened by the climate changes. Our vision aims to create a resilient city where the interaction between natural and urban environment is a keystone. For example, a strategic green dune-forest barrier could protect the city from the hot desert winds, while helping stop the advance of the desert and hosting a wind turbins park.

Metropolitan City of Venice: a Compact City

Venice has always been bounded to land and lagoon, but nowadays the delicate balance among them seems to struggle. To rebuild the valuable balance we need to fix non negotiable principles and our vision propose vocations for the five morphological macro-entities of the settlement system which are the lagoon, the island city, Marghera, Mestre and the mainland territory .

Metropolitan City of Venice: a Smart Transport Network

In order to improve the transport system of the Metropolitan city of Venice, our vision develops an idea of integrated network of smart, ecological and interconnected water- and landways. Through the use of a water-land circle-line system, we can integrate the urban and territorial transport structure by studing fast transfer points between waterbus, regional railway, cycling and pedestrian networks.

Metropolitan City of Venice: a Sustainable Bioclimatic City

Venice has always thrived within its natural environment, the lagoon, on delicate balance between land and water. Its unique nature provide a huge potential, especially from the local climate characteristics: the tidal movement, along the solar and wind energy, could be a huge source of clean power for the whole city and its inhabitants. Abandoned industrial area can been turned into natural clean up areas able for the deeper polluted soil, on-going urban park projects should be completed and extented to create a rich and vibrant Green Urban Network.

Greater Helsinki: a Compact City

Creating attractive compact healthy cities for people and their needs is a keystone of our visions. We aim to minimize the city impact on the environment, providing access to different activitiess, spontaneous encounters, connecting different part of the city, reducing segregation and increasing security, shaping a city that connects people in addition to give access to buildings and their functions.

Greater Helsinki: a Smart Transport Network

The system of urban filaments aims to create high density built environments surrounded by nature, but linked efficiently to a high speed and efficient water and land trabsport networks. The built environment within each filament is connected to the sea terminal one one end and to the highspeed railway system to the other one. Cycling and pedetrian connections, along with a low speed tram network, allow the mobility within each filament.

Greater Helsinki: a Sustainable Bioclimatic City

The increasing urbanity of human lives will likely lower the daily chances to access the natural environment, strengthening the separation between nature and its potential defensors. Our filament urban design provides a close access to the natural environment, while minimazing the overall city footprint and transport related pollution, fostering a more sustainable transport network Morover the atolls near the shore host wind and underwater turbines for the production of clean energy.
